Pollen is in the air! Unfortunately for many of us, we have been struggling with runny noses, itchy eyes and sneezing. We’re more likely to grab a handful of tissues, eye drops, and over-the-counter pills instead of smelling the roses.
If allergies were a normal thing, or if they “run in your family,” then why doesn’t everyone have them throughout the spring, summer, and fall? It’s all about adaptation!
What if I told you allergies are just a sympathetic response to stressors on the nervous system that can be cured!
What causes allergies?
Your immune system produces substances known as antibodies. When you have allergies, your immune system makes antibodies that identify an allergen as harmful, even though it isn’t. When you encounter the allergen, your immune system’s reaction can inflame your skin, sinuses, airways or digestive system.
This is situation of bodily confusion. The body is reacting to something as if it was harmful, even though it’s not. It’s a stress response that can be prevented!
How Chiropractors Can Help:
Vertebral Subluxations are a stress response that can disrupt how well your brain communicates with your body. Three stresses that we encounter are emotional, physical, and chemical stress. By having a strong and healthy communication between the brain and body, miscommunications can be inhibited, and allergies can be no more!
Subluxations and inflammation in the upper cervical joints can lower immunity and cause allergy symptoms. By fixing the subluxations, a chiropractor can restore the body’s alignment and re-open essential pathways between the brain and spine, enhancing healthy communication with the muscles and organs within your body.
Many allergy sufferers also have weakened adrenal glands, which means their bodies have a harder time moderating their allergic reactions. You may or may not be aware that the adrenal glands are directly commanded by spinal nerves. A properly aligned spine can help regulate the amount of cortisol the body produces and can help with your allergies.
Like the immune system, the respiratory system depends on an unimpeded flow of information to and from the brain. Chiropractic care keeps the pathways open, fortifying the respiratory system to better withstand allergy attacks.
Certain foods and other factors in the environment can either ease or exacerbate allergy symptoms by increasing inflammation. Foods such as sugar, dairy, and processed foods are just a few to avoid. Doctors in chiropractic can recommend lifestyle changes to enhance your health and your life!
Core Health has made my life a whole lot better! I had severe allergy problems and I was taking Prescription allergy medications and weekly allergy shots without any relief. I was miserable. Dr. Barton had a booth set up at Pride of Dakota food show and did a scan on me and after looking at the scan he asked if I had allergy problems. I said yes he said he could help me. I was skeptical but at that point in my life I was willing to try anything. I was sick of the headaches and feeling tired and miserable all the time. I told him I was willing to try the treatments for 6 months. I started feeling better and by the time the 6 months were up I no longer took the prescription drugs and I no longer needed the allergy shots! I am so grateful to Dr. Barton and Dr. Steph for giving me a healthier life!!!
